Sporting an intuitive touch screen, full QWERTY keyboard, a convenient trackball and a splash of unique new applications, the G1 Phone is the first to use the Google Android operating system.
The G1 mobile phone is designed to boost mobile Web access by making it easier to experience - by phone - the popular desktop products with which millions of users are already familiar, such as Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube.
"T-Mobile, Google and HTC share a similar vision for making the mobile Internet practical, relevant and fun," said Peter Chou, president and CEO of HTC Corp., the manufacturing partner for the G1.
"The T-Mobile G1 represents the culmination of this vision by offering a variety of services, applications and content that introduces an Internet experience that everyone can enjoy."
First-of-a-kind Android applications for G1 include ShopSavvy and Ecorio. The T-Mobile G1 is pre-loaded with an application for easy access to Amazon MP3, the digital music download store with more than 6 million DRM-free MP3 tracks.
