Cell Phone Video Ringtones
Add video ringtones to the next big trends in cell phones. The mixture of audio and video clips is kicking ringtones up several notches. Now we have a whole new category of tones - like Pictones and Watchtones. [MORE...]
Vringo is taking ringtones to a new high. Its service lets you create personal video ringtones from videos, slideshows and images. With its VringForward technology, you can select which video ringtone a specific friend will see on their phone when you call each other.
Facetones is a separate Vringo variation that taps into social media. When your friend calls you or you
call them, the app displays pictures from their social networking site such as Facebook; when using Symbian or Android mobile phones, the pictures are rendered as a video mashup.
Thanks to Musiwave and Mobiclip, Pictones was an early rendition of full video mobile ringtones but is no longer available as a product line. Pictones, first released by Musiwave (Openwave), combined songs with animated images extracted from video clips. By integrating advanced Mobiclip software, Musiwave was able to provide unique, high-quality full video ringtones.
Like existing ringtones, video tones are either integrated into the user's mobile handset, or easily downloaded.
"Users can now enjoy watching their favorite singers and personalities with each incoming call, enabling the further personalization of their mobile phone," said Andre Pagnac, CEO of Mobiclip.
